Repairing the Lexington Road Main Break

A 24-inch diameter water main broke overnight near the intersection of Lexington Road and Stilz Avenue. Water covered the roadway, and there was damage to trees and power lines. Louisville Water crews rushed to the scene to shut off the pipe, and the water soon receded.

The break happened Monday around 1:30 a.m. Employees at the nearby Crescent Hill Water Treatment Plant, which is staffed around the clock, adjusted the distribution system to account for the break and maintain overall operations. As we work to repair the pipe, some customers in the area may experience a brief loss of service or low water pressure.

Lexington Road is closed from Briar Hill Road to Alta Vista Road. Crews will repair the main and address damage over the next several days. Drivers are encouraged to avoid the area and use alternate routes until the roadway reopens.
