Education & Outreach Team Connected with Community All Summer Long

School may have been out for the summer, but Louisville Water’s education and outreach team stayed busy bringing water education into neighborhoods, camps, and community events.

From the Dreams With Wings Summer Camp for young people with disabilities and the Water Wows Camp at Jefferson Memorial Forest to Cadence Academy and World Refugee Day at Newcomer Academy, the team took interactive lessons on the road throughout the region. Topics included hydration, water science, Louisville Water history, current operations, and the Tapper’s Big Adventure children’s book.

In addition, the Fund for the Arts’ Cultural Pass days brought more than 500 visitors from 40 ZIP codes to Louisville Water Tower and WaterWorks Museum for hands-on learning about the company’s history and the journey Louisville Pure Tap® takes before it comes out of the faucet.

“It was exciting to welcome families from across the region and see children engage with Louisville Water’s story through play, exploration, and discovery,” said Museum Operations Supervisor Megan Jones. “By the end of their visit, they not only learned about the historic Water Tower, but also gained a better understanding of where their drinking water comes from and the work that goes into delivering it every day.”

Although this year’s Cultural Pass program has ended, the Tower and Museum remain open to the public on the second Sunday of each month from noon to 5 p.m. The Tower also welcomes group tours and field trips. Save the date for our free community open house on Sunday, November 8!
