Today,as in 1860, Louisville Water keeps public health at the core of our mission. Safe drinking water makes it possible for schools to open, and for hospitals, restaurants and manufacturing facilities to operate. Safety is also a priority. We maintain over 23,000 public fire hydrants and 4,100 miles of water mains.

Quality, Innovation , Value -- Louisville Water
It's our favorite week of the year - drinking water week! Why? Because we have the chance to celebrate what our forefathers began in 1860 - providing safe, reliable drinking water to the community. Not only is water the healthiest choice for a drink, it's also the most economical. For less than one penny, you can fill 66 cups of water at the tap!
Started by the American Water Works Association over 35 years ago, Drinking Water Week is about recognizing the vital role water plays in our daily lives. More than 750 million people in the world lack access to clean water, resulting in more than 840,000 death from water-related diseases every year.
This Drinking Water Week, we encourage everyone to think about the value of water and all of the unseen work that has to happen to get water from the source to your tap. Remember, there is a lot more to clean, clear water than meets the eye! And, as always, encourage your community to embrace getting back to the tap. Choosing Louisville pure tap® over less sustainable, less economical bottled water is one of the simplest steps you can take to better your health, wallet and planet. This week we raise a pure tap cheer to you, our customers, for trusting us to safely provide 115 million gallons of water daily to our community!
