Full Access to River Road Provides Relief

Residual Line Project - aerial of pipe installed

Louisville Water reached a significant milestone in the residual line project. Crews have installed 100% of the pipe on River Road for the project, well ahead of schedule.

Drivers welcomed full access to River Road just before the holidays. It’s a smoother ride too from Zorn Avenue to Prospect. Last week, crews finished paving and striping in the area near Wolf Pen Branch Road.

Here’s why this work is important:

In March 2025, Louisville Water began installing two new water lines to remove byproducts from the water treatment process. Our filtration process produces residual solids that must be removed from the treatment plant. The previous line built in 1971 was nearing the end of its useful life, so we built two new lines for increased redundancy. The system is critical to daily water production at Crescent Hill.

As the video below shows you, this project required skilled engineering, math, and patience!

Looking ahead

We will wrap up restoration work in the spring with a goal of finishing by the summer. The project continues in 2026 with construction at the Crescent Hill Water Treatment Plant.

Staying connected
