Thousands of teachers and students are marking the end of the school year, and Louisville Water is celebrating another successful year of Pure Tap lessons in the books!
From proper handwashing techniques in Clean Hands Up! to showing how Louisville Water treats, produces, and delivers clean drinking water to nearly a million people or teaching about the water cycle and protecting the Ohio River, our team of educators visited classrooms at multiple schools every week.
We did the math for the 2024-2025 school year, and it added up:
- 96 schools in four counties
- 259 classroom lessons
- 27,600+ students reached
“We love sharing the story of our drinking water with our community and tying real-world experiences to what students are learning in the classroom,” said Education & Outreach Specialist Heather Hill. “It’s rewarding to see the kids having fun and enjoying the hands-on lessons while also being able to support our teachers.”
Louisville Water also shared its story at local libraries, community events, health fairs, and sporting games. And many of you came to see us at Louisville Water Tower! We were thrilled to welcome 27 field trips and several tours.
What better way to end the school year than with award-winning Pure Tap and a couple visits from everybody’s favorite mascot, Tapper. We believe in celebrating hard work and enjoyed being part of the fun!
Louisville Water will continue to share drops of knowledge throughout the summer. You’ll find us at various community events, sporting venues, libraries, parks, and Waterfront Wednesday concerts. In the meantime, stay hydrated and have a healthy, refreshing summer break.
